Welcome to "What’s New" at Wild by Nature.
We hope you have had a good year and time to enjoy the wonders of the natural world. This page is the place to find out what Henry has been up to lately including his latest travels, book projects and the new selection of limited edition prints.

It has been another busy year for Henry, Valerie, Avery and Nellie and the rest of our Wild by Nature family, Travis and Roberta. It started off well, with Henry teaching his annual Winter In Yellowstone Photography Workshop for Arizona Highways in January. New snow and a few below zero mornings made for a great trip and some wonderful photographic opportunities. There were frosty bison, beautiful bighorn sheep, wandering wolves and a stunning red fox that posed nicely for the group amid pillows of fresh powder. In February Henry was off to East Africa, with a small group, for a magical trip to Tanzania. They explored the unique environs of the Ngorongoro Crater and then headed to Serengeti National Park during the peak of the annual migration. They were treated to amazing encounters with lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, hippos, giraffes, and many more magnificent animals. Hundreds of thousands of zebras and wildebeest that were spread across the vast plains were awe inspiring. It was truly an incredible trip and Henry is already planning his next African adventure for August of 2013. For more information on Henry’s African Photo Safaris please contact the gallery. As spring rolled into the Jackson Hole Valley Henry found himself working primarily with owls, bears and baby moose calves. Both great gray and great horned owls seemed to be very cooperative in May and June. A spring snowstorm over Memorial Day Weekend yielded the new great gray owl photograph farther down this page.

Grizzly bears 610 and 399 were also quite active after coming out of hibernation in mid April. Along with their cubs, both bears had an interesting summer, which has added to the ongoing saga of grizzlies in the Tetons. Henry has used some of the cub images in combination with other young grizzlies he has photographed over the years to produce a new board book for toddlers. “Grizzly Babies” is featured below and will be available in the spring of 2013. His “Moose Babies” book was released in 2011 and can be found on the books page of the website. Hopefully, the plethora of moose twins he photographed this summer will lead to another book in the future.

In both June and early October, Henry had a wonderful group of photographers join him for workshops at the Murie Center in Grand National Park. The June workshop focused on baby animals, wildflowers and spring landscapes while the October class took in the peak of the fall color and the height of the annual rut for elk, bison and moose. The Murie Center, located at Mardy and Olaus Murie’s ranch in Moose, Wyoming is a nonprofit organization focused on conservation, education and inspiring and engaging people about the enduring value of wildlife and wild places. The Murie ranch is the perfect atmosphere and setting to conduct these four-day field seminars. This year also marked the addition of a new DVD to Henry’s collection. He contributed a substantial number of images to the video production of the premier of Jennifer Higdon's symphony “All Things Majestic” by the Grand Teton Music Festival orchestra . This special, commemorative edition, of the Festival’s 50th anniversary season, is available for a limited time only on the books & DVDs page of the website.

We have also added several new images to our collection of tiles cherry photo boxes and expanded our selection of limited edition photographs available as canvas gicl�es. All told, it was a very photogenic and productive year with much to be thankful for.
